Adding value every step of the way
In a unique approach to giving back, ISG Middle East launched its first site-based donation drive where over 90 workers working on the site had access to pre-owned outfits.
Engaging with different stakeholders across all areas of the business to ensure it brings the client’s vision to life at every stage of the fit out. The project’s relationship driven approach has seen ISG Middle East working directly with the client on every aspect of the design and build.
The Expo 2020 Media Centre
ISG Middle East was appointed as the main contractor to provide the Expo Media Centre (EMC) facility for Expo 2020. The EMC encompasses 82,000 sq ft of purpose-built campus, providing state-of-the-art facilities featuring cutting edge technology for the world’s media throughout the six-month duration of the Expo. The shell and core designed building will be a central hub for monitoring and controlling all of Expo’s events, across 8 levels of Al Wasl Plaza and is inclusive of:
- TV & Radio Rooms
- Production Rooms
- Master Control Room
- Editing Suits
- Green Room
- Interview Rooms
- Press Briefing rooms

Challenges
- Acoustic requirement
- Covid-19
- Tight program requirement
Solutions Delivered
- ISG Middle East along with our MEP sub-contractor appointed AME (3rd party acoustic consultant) to review the design prior to engineering and construction commencing on site. A full report was prepared highlighting the findings which were discussed and agreed within a workshop with the consultant WSP. All measures agreed upon during the workshop were then reflected within our shop drawing submissions
- COVID-19 was a major challenge throughout the project and despite have up to 21 positive cases throughout the project ISG Middle East kept managed to keep the site open without any lost time and received recognition from EXPO PMC for the procedures we implemented and the reports issued
- Due to the tight time constraints associated with the project ISG Middle East implemented a program where we essentially split the project into two halves (L1 to 4 & 5 to 9) with separate sub-contractor teams and supervisors assigned to each of the two areas

“The Media Centre is a strategically important asset and provides a platform for global audiences to experience the Expo wherever in the world they may be. We are thrilled to have successfully delivered this vital technical infrastructure. Our expertise in this highly specialised type of fit out is prized across the region and the media centre is a high-profile addition to our growing portfolio of technically advanced projects.”
